High Triglycerides Should Make You Look Hard at Sugar Handling
Cholesterol and triglycerides are different substances with different biological functions. Triglycerides are a major form of stored energy. They circulate in lipoproteins and are stored in fat tissue.
High triglycerides can be associated with refined carbohydrates, elevated insulin, insulin resistance, diabetes, excess body weight, physical inactivity, alcohol and metabolic stress.
- REFINED SUGAR / STARCH
- GLUCOSE
- INSULIN SIGNALING
- LIVER TRIGLYCERIDE PRODUCTION
This is an important pathway, not the only one. Insulin resistance can increase fatty-acid delivery to the liver and alter triglyceride-rich particle production and clearance. Dietary energy excess and some medications, medical conditions and inherited disorders can also elevate triglycerides.
HIGH TRIGLYCERIDES SHOULD MAKE YOU LOOK HARD AT SUGAR HANDLING.
Review triglycerides alongside blood sugar, food quality, activity, alcohol use and the rest of your health picture. Very high triglycerides can also raise pancreatitis risk and need prompt clinical assessment; treating them as “just sugar” can miss important causes.
